Genoa Historical Centre – In the heart of Genoa’s historical center and just a minute of walk from the Cathedral of san Lorenzo, Palazzo Ducale and the colorful Piazza Campetto, this prestigious apartment is awaiting your stay. The apartment is located in the important palace belonged to the Imperial family, built around 1560 by Vincenzo Imperiale, on the design of Giovanni Battista Castello, nicknamed il Bergamasco. Il Bergamasco looked after both the architectural structure of the building and the selection of frescoes ornating the interior vaults, along with other artists of the time, as Luca Cambiaso and Bernardo Castello.
The Palazzo of the Famiglia Imperiale and its apartments is one of the most prestigious of the Rolli Residences where, between the 1500s and 1600s, sovereigns and dignitaries of the main European states were hosted. Today it has been recognized as world cultural heritage by UNESCO.
The passing of time and the wars have unfortunately damaged the palazzo and seriously compromised its paintings and stuccos, but a restoration works have been undertaken and have partly restored floors, fresco and decoration colours, turning this palazzo into a perfect location to literally breathe the charms of Genoa Repubblica Marinara.
Most visitors to Genova do not have the opportunity to freely see the inside of these Palace with their gorgeous ceilings, frescoes, paintings and decorations because they are either converted to a museum or private residence.
